Delete my account and my data

Last updated: August 23, 2026

This page explains how to permanently delete your Exploratour account and the associated data: how to proceed, what is erased, what is retained and within what timeframe.

From the app (recommended)

Deletion is immediate and requires no action on our side:

  1. Open Exploratour and go to the settings, from the “Profile” tab.
  2. Scroll down to the actions and tap “Delete my account”.
  3. Confirm in the warning dialog by tapping “Delete permanently”.

Be careful not to confuse it with the “Delete all data” option just above: that one only resets your device and deletes neither your account nor the data held on our servers.

The operation is carried out immediately, with no grace period and no possibility of restoration.

If you have already uninstalled the app

Write to deambulle@protonmail.com with “Account deletion” as the subject. We handle requests as quickly as possible, and within 30 days at the latest (GDPR article 12).

Important: by default Exploratour uses an anonymous account, created automatically and tied to no identity. If you did not link an email address to your account, we have no technical means of connecting an email request to your data: it remains pseudonymous and cannot be traced back to you. This is why we recommend deleting your account from within the app before uninstalling it.

What is deleted

  • Your progress: completed trails and tours, solved riddles, visited places, achievements and levels.
  • Your purchases and unlocked content — access is permanently lost, with no possibility of restoration.
  • The authentication account itself: the anonymous identifier and, where applicable, the email address linked to it.
  • All data held on your device: favorites, notebook notes, photos taken in the app, profile picture, nickname, settings and statistics.

What is retained, and why

  • A proof of deletion: the date of the operation and an irreversible cryptographic fingerprint of your former identifier. It contains no personal data and cannot be used to re-identify you. It fulfils our obligation to be able to demonstrate compliance (GDPR article 5.2).
  • If you used an unlock code, that code remains marked as “used” to prevent its reuse, but the link to your account is erased.
  • Any emails you may have sent us, kept in our mailbox to follow up on your request. You may ask for their deletion at any time.
  • Technical logs and crash reports (Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics), pseudonymous, subject to Google's retention periods.

Processing times

Deletion from the app: immediate. Request by email: within 30 days at most.
